Family Movie Night Reviews - Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium
We try to set aside Saturday evenings with no guests, no computer, no video games and all sit down as a family to watch a movie together. We don't have cable or wish to subscribe to any kind of movie service, so we buy a DVD once in a while to add to our library. Some are keepers and some are not. Finding it very difficult to find info online about specific movies that fit our criteria, I thought I would start reviewing ours here, on the Monday after mostly, and hopefully be able to be of use to anyone looking to build their own family movie library.
We've had this movie for awhile and the kids have already seen it, but it was the first time we all sat down and watched it together.
I didn't expect much out of it, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Mr. Magorium is a 243 year old guy who runs a magical toy store, but is getting ready to depart (die), so is looking to leave his store to his young employee and hires an accountant to get everything in order. The characters are likable and this movie gives you that "anything is possible" feeling. We should all feel that more often I think:)
It was fun to watch. There were no bad words or romantic situations. There was a lot of "magic" and believe in yourself talk if that is a problem for anyone, but I think it was okay for us to watch.
